MIHAS 2026: Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience

MIHAS 2026 Soft Launch at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre on 28 April 2026
Hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS is widely recognised as the world’s largest halal trade fair. For over 20 years, MIHAS has been a leading global platform for commerce, empowering businesses to succeed in the expanding halal market while driving economic growth. As a premium, multi-industry hub, MIHAS connects businesses with new opportunities in a constantly evolving global landscape.
At the MIHAS 2026 Soft Launch, Mr Abu Bakar Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, announced that this year’s theme, “Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience” highlights Malaysia’s readiness to lead and advance the global halal economy amid ongoing uncertainty, disruption, and division. He added that MIHAS shapes trust by upholding strong standards and fostering globally respected networks. Meanwhile, MIHAS drives resilience by connecting businesses to new markets and buyers, at a time when geopolitical tensions are reshaping supply chains and businesses are seeking stable, trusted partners in a volatile environment.
Halal has evolved beyond religious compliance to represent trust, quality assurance, and ethical sourcing. As a global halal leader, Malaysia has decades of experience built on credibility and consistency. This is reflected in Malaysia’s strong trade performance, with total halal exports recorded at RM68.52 billion in 2025, marking a 10.9 percent increase. The key export drivers were food and beverages, Halal ingredients, and palm oil and derivatives.

In her launching address, YBhg. Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil, Deputy Secretary General (Investment & Management) of MITI, highlighted that MIHAS 2026 is focused on accelerating digital transformation and advancing sustainable growth within the international halal economy. Due to tariff pressures imposed by the United States and rising logistics costs driven by geopolitical tensions in West Asia, MITI, MATRADE and MIDA are working collaboratively to support businesses by enhancing productivity, driving digitalisation, and facilitating exports. They will also focus on diversifying Malaysia’s export base into emerging markets such as Latin America, Africa, and Central Asia, while maximising free trade agreements and strengthening digital trade initiatives to further support sustainable export growth.
Given these challenges, MIHAS plays a pivotal role as it enables SMEs to expand their market reach, engage directly with international buyers and sellers, and foster strategic partnerships. The 2026 edition of MIHAS will be held from 23 to 26 September at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), featuring a diverse range of products and services from fourteen major halal clusters.
